Library of the Islands

Welcome to the new Library of the Islands! The latest milestone in the ongoing Islands Project.

Access to the library is totally free, donations can be sent here to help us continue doing what we love!

Who are we?

The Academy is a newly-formed, prestigious collection of Scholars tasked with collecting and documenting all findings as we explore the Islands we call home!

Currently, we have two Discovery Teams and three Research Teams, as well as an Archivist, and a Runner. As the Discovery and Research Teams send updates, the Archivist will transcribe them here in hopes of future collaborations with other Scholar communities!

Prior to our generation, the knowledge that not only we were on an Island, but that we were part of a tightly knit community of Islands was heresay. It is only now, in our communities fourth generation, that we are beginning to see what is out there beyond our land.

It is important to note that most inhabitants of the Islands are in fact not aware that they are on an Island at all. Many Orderlies, for example, never leave their small community, so they have no concept of anything beyond their home.

As the weilders of this knowledge it is our duty to weild it with care, and so it is the Academies priority to first collect, analyze, and organize the information before sharing.

Some questions we hope to answer:

  • How many Islands are there?
  • What do the outer regions of the Islands cluster look like?
  • What does life look like on the other Islands?
  • Why are we here?

About Our Teams

All current members of the Academy go under codenames unless they have specifically requested going by their given name.

Discovery Teams

The Discovery Team is in charge of exploring the Islands and sending brief reports back   on any findings that they feel need more exploration.

  • Team A: Lead Scout, Block; and Defensive, Prent
  • Team B: Lead Scout, Arch; and Defensive, Clip

Research Teams:

The Reasearch Team is in charge of following up on discoveries and collecting all necessary data. Currently, we only have one team dedicated to long-term studies, but we are always interested in taking in new Researchers.

Groups are composed of members with complimentary skills and experience and pursue leads relevant to their skillsets.

  • Team T8W:Group Lead, Tack; Surveyor, Buggy; and Defender, Wingo
  •  Team T8W is our primary long-term Research Team.

  • Team B4R:Group Lead, Barnis; Surveyor, Achy; Defender, RG; and Archeaologist, Handle
  • Team A3H:Group Lead, Aldi; Surveryor and Defender, Ethle; and Restorer, Hip

Runner

Runners are tasked with transporting data from our Discovery and Research Teams to our Archivist. Currently, we only have one Runner, and we are interested in taking on a few more.

  • Runner: Rodringo

Archivist

The Archivist is in charge of recieving, transcribing, publishing, and then preserving all data collected by our Discovery and Research Teams. The Archivist is also in charge of maintaining the Library of the Islands Project.

There is only one Archivist working tirelessly to uphold the standards set by the Academy. Often several weeks worth of information is received at once and it takes a while to go through all of the steps to get things ready for publishing.

It does not help that there is a member of the Research Team staff who has begun tampering with the Libraries published works in an act of defiance due to his submitted research being deemed to be invalid. This will continue to set back frequency of publishing. Your patience is appreciated.

What is the Islands Project?

This is a fantasy-database (called "library" in-world) that contains the archives of groups who have gone out exploring their own surrounding world, currently known only as "the Islands."

Expect to see logs from travel parties, letters written to the academy, details on pending lawsuits, journal entries, artistic renderings, and more!

For now updates will be a bit random, but I hope to have things on a schedule in the somewhat near future!

About the creator

My name is Lex! I am an artist and a writer. I have a deep love for nature,as you will see as this database evolves! I have been working on this world and story since 2017 and am excited to finally get serious about sharing it! I also loooove making databases so I figured why not make one for this world I'm currently building?

I am currently only doing the writing and art thing part time, but I hope someday to make this my full time career! If you like my work and you want to see more in the future, consider buying me a coffee!

Thank you for taking the time to read this, and have a lovely day! :)
