Island A

Island A

Island A (referred to onwards as (A))is the first Island documented by the Academy. It is also the home of the Academy and all its current members.

It is important to note that the habitants of the various Islands all refer to their homes by different names, so for the sake of clarity we have decided to classify them with letters until names have been collectively agreed upon by inhabitants.

While (A) is the original home of the Academy, most discoveries have been shared orally, many in the form of folk tales and have no physical records. The Archivist is currently in the process of transcribing them for historical use but cannot confirm the real-life accuracies of said discoveries. The academy is currently looking to build a new Research Team dedicated to (A.)

Creation of Island A

Inhabitants of (A) have fairly consistent creation storys. None have currently been verified by the Academy due to lack of evidence.

The shared, unverified details amongst all creation stories:

  1. A giant rock fell from the sky, into a large body of water
  2. Over time, dirt built up on the rock, and eventually plants began to grow
  3. Fae arrived and lived up on the land, slowly shaping it to their needs
  4. Eventually, the Fae-descendants began appearing and assisting in maintaining the land for the Fae

These details leave the Academy with lots of questions that need answering. For example, it is verified that (A) is one amongst at least five other surrounding islands. Does this mean that all six (or more) islands fell from the sky at the same time?

See "Archivist Speculations" on this page for more questions and theories pertaining to island creation.

Communities on Island A

Island A is home to several communities:

  • the Academy: A family of scholars working together to study and collect information on the Islands. The family is headed by the Archivist and Barnis. The rest of the members (besides Rodringo) are pups of the family heads.
  • Broonks Villa:The northernmost community on (A). Homes several families, primarily populated by Orderlies. There is a family of wind-descendants living amongst the community, including Rodringo.

There are theories that the wind-descendants may have originated on the island directly to the north, (E), due to their having more common with (F)'s Fae than on (A).

  • Jelly City: Directly in the center of (A). A large structure of land sitting directly between the two largest hills on the island. The city is surrounded by water, requiring one to either use a boat, or cross one of two bridges to either enter or leave. Jelly city is heavily populated with Orderlies and is watched over by a Major-Orderly and a Seer as his hand. The Islands Project's research is supported heavily by the citizens of Jelly City.
  •     The Seer of Jelly City says to have guided three generations of Major-Orderlies- this is unverified.

    Archivist Speculations

This section contains purely unverified theories, questions and explanations. The role of this is for purely self-indulgent archival purposes.

    1. If the islands all arrived at the same time, and have always been close to one another, why do they all appear to have Fae variations?
    2. Discovery Teams have also been noticing that while our Island is covered in hills and trees, and rivers, others have unfamiliar, dry terrain. Thus far the most similar island to (A) is (F), and these two islands also appear to be the largest. The differences between both islands do still appear to be quite jarring. While (A) has a long row of massive hills cutting across the center, (F) seems to be more level with large amounts of pooling water. Why?
    3. We have begun our first long-term study on Island (F), a group being raised by a Teacher of waterfowl origins. Our studies tell us that she should only be hatching descendents who are also of waterfowl origins, yet a corvid was amongst the clutch. According to Team T8W, this has never occured before with this specific Teacher. Is this evidence that some lifeforms are direct-descendants (as in second generation) of Fae, while others are direct-descendants of the Islands themselves? What implications does this have for life forming on (A)?
